DETAILS
Immerse in unique service opportunities while chasing clouds across hanging bridges in the rainforests of Costa Rica! Teens will start their trip in San José, then work alongside local teens to tag butterflies and learn about ecotourism on a Costa Rican farm. We’ll visit indigenous people like the BriBri and Boruca to better understand their way of life. When not earning our 30 volunteering hours, we’ll be making the most of our time here by hiking and swimming to all the hidden gems of each region. Moments our past participants have loved:
- Ziplining through the rainforest on a canopy adventure
- Feeling the pulse of the La Fortuna waters crashing over the falls and jumping into the swimming hole
- Visiting Cahuita National Park, which has coral reefs and the white-sand beach of Playa Blanca. The park’s rainforest shelters toucans, monkeys, and turtles
IS IT RIGHT FOR ME? While Stand UP Adventure Costa Rica is designed for active teens, the program is appropriate for most. Do not worry about needing to be super outdoorsy to enjoy yourself. The outdoor activities are only meant to complement the overall touring, most of which is still bus-based. The ultimate aim of this program is to provide teens with a more active way to experience the country through the beauty of its terrain, and to learn about Costa Rican life from the indigenous and Jewish communities in the region. Pura Vida! See you on the trails
