8:00 AM: Boker Tov
Time to rise and shine for a great day ahead!

9:00 AM: Aruchat Boker | Breakfast
Fuel up with a meal and chat with friends as we prepare to take on the day.

10:00 AM: Morning Pep Rally
We’ll come together as a community to frame our schedule and get excited for the day ahead.

10:30 AM: Mock Chapter Session
Within Mock Chapters, we’ll explore the foundations of BBYO programming like pluralism, different leadership and communication styles, how to calendar, and what it means to build chapter identity.

11:30 AM: Camp Fun! (Chugim)
Head off to the club of your choice for some classic camp time—boating, krav maga, bracelet making, and basketball are just a few of the options.

12:30 PM: Electives
Now is the time to dig into an area of leadership that particularly interests you. Whether you are into song leading, mental health, combating antisemitism, budgeting, or direct service, we’ve got an elective choice for every rising leader.

1:30 PM: Aruchat Tzohorayim | Lunch
Head back to the dining hall for your midday fuel up—grilled cheese and tomato soup is especially a favorite! We also always have a salad bar, and the fixings for sun nut butter and jelly sandwiched for anyone who prefers.

2:15 PM: Menucha | Cabin Rest Time
Head back to the bunks to have a quick chat with a friend, write a letter home, or even catch a quick cat nap.

3:00 PM: Chapter Planning
Your Mock Chapter can take this time to work together on whatever lies ahead, be it the upcoming Shabbat program you are planning or logistics for elections.

4:00 PM: Chofesh | Free Time
Take a break with your friends and chill in our hammocks, jam out with the camp instruments, or take a walk around our lush, green grounds.

6:00 PM: Menucha | Cabin Rest Time
Another chance for a personal moment of relaxation.

7:00 PM: Aruchat Erev | Dinner
We eat, we sing, we laugh—dinner is always a good time at CLTC!

8:00 PM: Evening Program
These fun chances to try something new might include baking challah, singing, a scavenger hunt, reflections on inclusion, or more!

9:30 PM: Snack
Who doesn’t love a pre-bedtime snack?

10:00 PM: Friendship Circle
CLTC is a united community, and we’ll take a nightly moment dedicated to that community and all we accomplished that day.

10:30 PM: Cabin Time
Finish the day with a bit of bunkmate bonding time.

10:45 PM: Laila Tov | Good Night

Is CLTC for you?
CLTC is a great program for Alephs and BBGs currently in 9th or 10th grade who are current or aspiring chapter leaders (with or without positions), have attended or are interested in attending regional leadership conventions, or who haven't yet been to a BBYO international program!

How many teens attend CLTC? 
Each session welcomes around 100 participants. The smaller group size offers members the chance to create a community in which each member has the chance to grow and shine.

Who staffs CLTC? 
BBYO programming professionals and advisors serve as the site director, leadership director, and leadership staff at CLTC. We’re also joined by a Jewish educator, song leader, an office manager, and college-age counselors (or madrichim).

Where is CLTC located?
CLTC takes place at the Commonpoint Retreat Center, which is owned by the Commonpoint JCC, a partner of UJA Federation of NY. Situated in the foothills of the Pocono Mountains, the sprawling grounds and lush scenery will be the perfect place for our CLTC community to learn, have fun, and thrive together this summer.

What is the CLTC curriculum about?
The CLTC curriculum provides teens with the foundational leadership skills they need to bring home and become leaders in their chapters and beyond. The core skills include communication and leadership styles, program planning, calendaring, MRIHA (BBYO’s proprietary recruitment model), chapter identity/rituals and traditions, and how to be a successful role model/leader/mentor. There are also a multitude of electives and how tos for every successful chapter. Teens will be split into Mock Chapters and plan camp-wide programs to utilize all these skills in real time. Each chapter’s Mock Advisor is a full-time BBYO staff member.

Is the food at CLTC kosher?
All food served at the Commonpoint Retreat Center is kosher-style and all meat is certified kosher.

What do I do about medication? 
For the safety of our teens, all medications—prescription and over the counter—for camp-based summer programs must go through CampMeds. This includes any over-the-counter medication, including supplements or vitamins. Medications used in emergency situations, like an epi pen or inhaler, as well as oral contraceptives can be brought to camp and do not need to be filled through CampMeds. CampMeds medications must be filled no later than 30 days before the start of a program. BBYO staff are unable to distribute medication that a participant brings with them. Failure to accurately fill prescriptions through CampMeds will result in a $250 fee and medication brought will not be distributed. Failure to comply with the policy may result in a removal from the camp program.

How do I get to CLTC?
Teens can either be dropped off directly at camp by a parent or guardian, or they can fly into the local airport, Newark Liberty International Airport, where they'll be met by BBYO staff and taken to their program by bus.

Do you offer travel insurance?
BBYO has partnered with a licensed travel insurance agent to offer travel insurance. They provide a cost-effective solution for student groups with important benefits like trip cancellation, trip interruption, missed connection, trip delay and baggage delay. Families should strongly consider purchasing travel insurance to protect their investment and plan for the unexpected. Families may also opt to purchase travel insurance through a provider of their choosing.

What does wellness look like at CLTC?
Each CLTC session has a full-time licensed mental health professional and a nurse on site. Additionally, all BBYO staff are youth mental health first aid certified.

Can 8th graders attend CLTC?
Only 8th graders who hold a leadership position and who have been nominated by their regional staff may attend CLTC.

Is there scholarship for CLTC?
Yes! Several different scholarship options are available:

• BBYO Need-Based Scholarship: Apply as part of your registration. Applications are due by January 18, 2024, and awards will be announced on January 30, 2024. Applications received after this date will be reviewed on a rolling basis.
• Leadership Scholarships
  • Anita M. Perlman Scholarship: In honor of the legacy of the founder of BBG, visionary feminist Anita M. Perlman, an award up to $500 in additional scholarship for a BBG to attend CLTC to enhance their leadership and identity. Funds are limited—applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and awarded based on greatest need via the scholarship application.
  • AZA Scholarship: To provide Alephs with the opportunity to learn leadership skills, fully develop their leadership potential, and encourage the development of friendships with other Jewish teens through the CLTC experience, this scholarship awards recipients with an average of $250 to attend CLTC. Funds are limited—applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and awarded based on greatest need via the scholarship application.
